Join an organization at the forefront of health care advocacy around the nation.

Community Catalyst is a leading 501(c)(3) non-profit national health advocacy organization dedicated to advancing a movement for health equity and justice. We partner with local, state, and national advocates to leverage and build community power so all people can influence the decisions that impact their health. Health systems will not be accountable to people without a fully engaged and organized community voice. That’s why we work every day to ensure people’s interests are represented wherever important decisions about health and health care are made: in communities, state houses and on Capitol Hill. The Vaccine Equity and Access Program (VEAP) is a national program that supports community-based organizations led by and working with people of color in facilitating information about and equitable access to vaccines in a diverse range of communities of color by:

The program will pair funding resources for community organizations with technical assistance and cohort learning environments where community organizations can share with and learn from one another. The program will also equip funded community organizations with the resources, strategies and partnerships needed to foster stronger, more respectful and inclusive relationships between consumers and local health systems, rooted in cultural competency and the goal of addressing community identified needs. We approach all of this work with the goal of partnering with community leaders on their efforts to grow engagement with community members, with particular attention paid to communities that have  historically excluded from health care decision making and experience disproportionate health inequities as a result of systemic racism and other forms of discrimination.

This effort is part of a major national initiative conducted in collaboration with other national organizations and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  The program will seek to proactively gather community insights and share these with the national collaborative as part of an effort to improve the health of Black and brown communities.

The Program Director will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Vaccine Equity and Access Program (VEAP). This will include: managing a team of 7 staff focused on successful execution of the program; overseeing the team’s engagement with partner organizations and consultants; driving strategic execution of the program; engaging other senior leaders in programmatic updates and decision-making; representing the program to and building relationship with other national organizations working on the broader CDC initiative; and managing relationship with and providing timely progress reports to the CDC.

The Program Director is supervised by the Senior Director of Equity and Engagement.
