Dear Partners,

As Congress continues to work on the Build Back Better package, there is an escalating call from national, state and local leaders for the recovery package to address a glaring racial inequity and close the Medicaid coverage gap. Will you add your voice?

It's a critical racial justice priority that Congress closes the Medicaid coverage gap, ensuring health coverage access for 2.2 million people, 60 percent of whom are people of color. Senators and representatives across all 50 states need to hear from you about why they must provide a permanent and comprehensive Medicaid solution.

Use these new tools to close the Medicaid coverage gap
These new and updated tools can help you raise your voice and amplify the need for Congress to act now.
  • Use this messaging guide to help inform your conversations with your Members of Congress and reporters about the critical need to close the Medicaid gap. These talking points can be used in:
    • Meetings or phone calls with Members of Congress,
    • Op-eds or LTEs calling to close the gap,
    • Interviews with state and local reporters,
    • Social media posts,
    • And more!

  • Download and share these videos of people without health coverage sharing their experiences and Stacey Abrams talking about why over 2 million people can't wait any longer to access health care.

There are over 2 million people in the country today who have no realistic way to get health coverage in the 12 states that have not expanded Medicaid. More than half are people of color facing unfair barriers to economic security. They have waited over a decade for their state leaders to take action, and they can’t wait any longer. It’s an urgent issue of racial and health equity that we close the Medicaid coverage gap now.

Together we can ensure that closing the coverage gap remains a top priority for members of Congress.

In Solidarity,

Meredith Munn Wheeler
Interim Director, Together for Medicaid
