Messages for Recess Meetings: SGR and CHIP Package

Dear Partners,

As we notified you on Friday, Senate leadership decided to delay a vote on H.R. 2, the bill passed by the House on Thursday, March 26, that would repeal the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) and extend federal funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). The vote will take place shortly after the Senate returns from recess on April 13.

Again, we strongly encourage you to meet with your senators and their staff during this two-week period when they are home. Please urge them to extend CHIP with all its current provisions intact as quickly as possible. To support you in doing so, we have developed messages that emphasize the importance of funding CHIP and the urgency of doing so now.

If you need additional support, either in arranging meetings or planning your messages, please contact Kate Lewandowski or your state advocacy manager.

Thank you for your continued advocacy,
Eva Stahl
