New Materials To Engage Funders On Your Advocacy Work

Dear Partners,

Following the sixth anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, we know many of you are not only exploring the next phase of your advocacy work, but also identifying opportunities to strengthen and sustain systems of advocacy in your state. As you continue to build a sustainable consumer health advocacy infrastructure to address emerging health issues in your state, we wanted to share several resources to guide you in cultivating relationships with local, state and national funders to support your efforts in extending health coverage and transforming health care systems:

  • A funder briefing toolkit to help advocates develop relationships with new and existing funders to support consumer health advocacy;
  • A blog summarizing a report published by the American Journal of Public Health highlighting the critically important role consumer advocacy plays in states; and
  • An article published by Grantmakers In Health (GIH) discussing new approaches funders are taking to advance health equity.

We hope you will find these materials useful as you continue to build and sustain your consumer-focused health advocacy and inform philanthropic leaders about your organization’s work to align with shifting funder priorities and the changing health care landscape.
