New Resources to Influence State Coverage Gap Debates

Dear Partners,

As state legislative sessions start to wrap up, we know many of you are strategizing ways to keep building interest in closing the coverage gap before the 2017 legislative session begins. Last summer and fall advocates in Georgia, Tennessee and Nebraska organized town hall meetings in key districts across their states to proactively engage the grassroots, grasstops and local media and to move the conversation forward on expansion.

Inspired by their successes, we wanted to share several resources to assist you in developing town hall meetings about the coverage gap in your states:

  • Our new toolkit featuring best practices and lessons learned from advocates’ town hall meetings;
  • A new resource from Raising Women’s Voices to engage community members in efforts to build momentum behind closing the gap; and
  • A report summarizing what Tennessee Justice Center discovered about the local impacts of the coverage gap through their town hall tours.

We hope you will find these resources useful as you continue moving onward and upward in your advocacy efforts to extend health coverage opportunities for millions of individuals falling into the coverage gap.
