(BOSTON, MA) – Statement of Robert Restuccia, executive director of Community Catalyst, on the Congressional Budget Office’s preliminary analysis of the impact that the Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson Affordable Care Act repeal bill would have on the nation.

“It is disappointing that Congressional Republican leadership – in their haste to take yet another try at a rushed and ill-conceived repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) – have not given the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) time to appropriately evaluate the harm the Graham-Cassidy repeal bill would hold for consumer across the country. While Senate Republicans continue to tweak state funding numbers in an attempt to sway undecided members, no amount of bribes can change the fact that the bill would take coverage away from millions of people, endanger the health and safety of people with preexisting conditions, jeopardize women’s health care and slash Medicaid, a program millions of children, older adults and people with disabilities depend on.

“Polling continues to show that the people want Congress to work on making the ACA better. It is time the Congressional Republican leadership heed these calls and exercise the will of the people to create a health system that expands coverage, lowers out-of-pocket costs, addresses inequities, tackles prescription drug prices and improves the quality of care.”
