(BOSTON, MA) – Community Catalyst today issued the following statement in response to the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
Statement of Executive Director Emily Stewart:
“Community Catalyst joins with those throughout the country in expressing our profound sadness and anger at the murder of 19 children and two teachers in Uvalde, Texas. The world we and our partners are fighting for is a free and just one where everyone’s health and life is cherished. This cannot be realized until we are a nation that keeps our children safe and holds policymakers accountable to the people, especially those most hurt by our society and systems today. We won’t stop until we do, and we stand in support with all the parents, organizers and advocates pushing for an end to gun violence.”
About Community Catalyst:
Community Catalyst is a leading non-profit national health advocacy organization dedicated to advancing a movement for health equity and justice. We partner with local, state and national advocates to leverage and build power so all people can influence decisions that affect their health. Health systems will not be accountable to people without a fully engaged and organized community voice. That’s why we work every day to ensure people’s interests are represented wherever important decisions about health and health care are made: in communities, state houses and on Capitol Hill.
