ICYMI: How TrumpRx Fails to Address the Health Care Crisis
President Trump recently unveiled “TrumpRx,” an initiative that promises to lower the price of prescription drugs and offer select discounts. Instead of actually bringing down health care costs for families, TrumpRx offers no binding policy, no meaningful oversight, and no assurance that it will provide relief to communities.
Community Catalyst’s latest blog, authored by Senior Director of Policy & Strategy Mona Shah, breaks down how TrumpRx fails to address the health care affordability and accessibility crisis in the United States.
Communities are already facing the aftermath of the largest health care cuts in U.S. history, which are expected to kick over 15 million people off their health insurance and cause monthly premiums to skyrocket in 2026. For an administration that promised lower costs and toughness on Big Pharma, TrumpRx and the recent health care cuts accomplish neither.
TrumpRx does nothing to address health care concerns among voters across the political spectrum. Recent polling from Community Catalyst and HIT Strategies reveals that 78% of voters across party lines want government to play a greater role in lowering health care costs.
To truly address the health care crisis, communities need bold, structural reform – not rebranded coupon codes. Community Catalyst is working alongside local, state and national partners to advance policy decisions that reflect the wants and needs of communities.
