Alhelí M. Herrera is a Community Engagement Consultant at Community Catalyst. To the role, Alhelí brings more than 15 years of experience as community organizer, program manager, trainer, facilitator, and strategist for non-profits in state-wide and local community-based organizations, coalitions, and service organizations. She has worked with youth, adults, and allies to advocate for humane and just reforms in immigration law.
Alhelí is experienced in citizen engagement, education, and violence prevention, and trained in organizing, leadership development, and racial equity. Previously, Alhelí held a management role at the Cultivate: Women of Color Leadership Program, and as a trainer and organizer for the United Congress of Community and Religious Organizations and Enlace Chicago.
Alhelí received a bachelor’s degree in Latin American and Latino studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a proud immigrant from Mexico and has called the United States home for 30 years. She lives near Chicago with her husband and two children.
