Race & Ethnic Identities
On this website, we may refer to Asian, Black, Indigenous, Latinx*, Pacific Islander, and additional systemically excluded communities. However, we recognize this is not a complete list, and some diasporic communities may not see themselves represented. Our approach is to defer to community members to identify themselves whenever possible.
Community Catalyst uses the language Latino/a/x/e and Hispanic interchangeably. While the intent of the pan-ethnic term “Latinx” is meant to honor inclusivity and be representative of various ways that people identify, we recognize that this language does not account for all identities. We also recognize the importance and need of specificity in reference to particular communities. Community Catalyst is committed to learning and growing in this space and, therefore, continuously revisiting this definition.
