Boston, MA – Community Catalyst, AIDS Action Council, Center for Rural Affairs, Family Voices, Medicare Rights Center, National Research Center for Women & Families, U.S. PIRG and 73 state consumer advocacy organizations today strongly endorsed the Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962) and began a strong push to urge House members to pass the landmark legislation.

In a letter to the House leadership, the groups laud the inclusion of strong affordability protections, a public insurance option, vigorous oversight of the private insurance industry, and a requirement that employers contribute to health insurance costs.

“The House bill ensures Americans access to quality, stable, affordable health care while promoting competition, slowing the growth in health care costs and improving the quality of care,” said Robert Restuccia, Executive Director of Community Catalyst, a national health care advocacy organization. “We applaud the House leadership for taking this historic step toward ensuring health care for millions of Americans.”
