FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 15, 2017

BOSTON, MA Statement of Robert Restuccia, executive director of Community Catalyst, in response to the Trump Administration’s announcement today of a proposed rule governing the Affordable Care Act Marketplace.

“The Trump Administration’s proposed rule is a wolf in sheep’s clothing that will help insurers’ bottom line at the expense of consumers. As proposed, the rule would increase the cost of coverage for millions of people, make it more difficult for people to access coverage and undermine critical consumer protections.

“If Congress and the Trump administration truly wanted to create certainty in the insurance market, they would stop their reckless pursuit of repealing the Affordable Care Act without an immediate replacement.

“President Trump said he would make health care better and more affordable. But this proposed rule does exactly the opposite and continues his administration’s pattern of putting the needs of corporate America above the interests of the American people.”
